Covid-19 Global Quilt

A virtual quilt project created by artists Tal Fitzpatrick and Kate Just this global project asks artists to contribute a square that speaks to their lived experience of the Covid-19 pandemic.

I titled my block Change.

Artist Statement: As I reflect on what this time means to us as beings on this planet, I wanted to use some of my vintage textiles to create this square. When I found this image of ships and humans I thought about what we have done as a society, how life has progressed to 2020, and what has been our normal. The layer over that image is a spring inspired colour with a tulip. The corner squares are from a quilt my son and I finished during self-isolation. I embroidered the word “Change” because that is what I am trying to hold on to and accept. Visit the quilt on Instagram.
